Congratulations to the Class of 2025

On Friday, May 30, 2025, 18 chemistry majors were awarded their undergraduate degrees as members of the Class of 2025. The graduates and loved ones gathered on Killian Court to hear the charge from Chancellor Melissa Nobles, as well as enjoy musical performances from fellow members of the Class of 2025.

Chancellor Nobles, in her address to the graduates, shared: “You’ve made a lot of memories in your time here. Over the past four years . . . you’ve demonstrated the value and power of higher education to change lives. Throughout your time at MIT, you ideated, you prototyped, and you tested. You created new knowledge, you waded through ambiguity, you worked collaboratively, and many of you optimized. Now on this graduate day, we send you on your way, with enormous pride and hope.

But at the same time we are sending you out into a world at a very difficult and challenging time. Class of 2025, your paths are uncharted, but you are prepared to face these daunting conditions. As one of your fellow classmates said, MIT taught the Class of 2025 to have ‘confidence in your competence.’

You are ready to tackle the toughest of problems. You are ready to shape the future. And . . . do so with compassion and generosity. We (the world) need you to lean in. Congratulations, Class of 2025!”

Following the ceremony, the newly graduated Class of 2025 and their guests were welcomed to a reception in the lobby of Building 18. Guests enjoyed food, drinks, and one another’s company.

The Department is immensely proud of the graduates, and all they have accomplished during their time at MIT.
